Morpeth lies just to the East of the main A1 trunk road, about 13 miles North of Newcastle upon Tyne.
The main East Coast railway line, joining the capitals of London and Edinburgh passes through the town. Some of the main-line trains stop at Morpeth, and a local service operates from Newcastle Central Station.
There is a busy bus station in the town, with many bus services, both local and long distance. The frequency of service to Newcastle in particular, is excellent
